Ecuador Moves More International Cargo
Ecuador’s foreign trade reached a new record during the second quarter of 2026. According to the Central Bank of Ecuador (BCE), exports totaled USD 10.177 billion, while imports reached USD 9.407 billion. The second-quarter results confirm the dynamism of Ecuadorian trade. Exports grew by 7% compared to the same period in 2025, while imports increased by 23.2%.
Regarding non-oil exports, shrimp remained the leading product, generating USD 2.554 billion with a year-over-year growth of 7.9%. The United States was the primary destination for Ecuadorian exports, followed by China and Panama.
On the import side, the United States and China were the main suppliers. This highlights the importance of maintaining efficient connections with North America and Asia—two strategic markets for Ecuadorian companies.
